Córdoba, the best scenario to see the total solar eclipse of July 2nd

The province will be a privileged place to witness the phenomenon. There will be observation points in Valle de Traslasierra and in Río Cuarto area. On Tuesday July 2nd, Córdoba will become one of the best places to contemplate the total solar eclipse, a unique astronomical phenomenon that will only be repeated in about 375 years.

June 5, 2019

The culminating minute of the eclipse will be around 17.40, when part of our province will be dark. The spectacle occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun.

To measure the only thing that results from this opportunity, especially for lovers of astronomy, it is enough to know that the last total solar eclipse that was seen in Córdoba was in 1947.

Where to see it

Although the phenomenon can be seen from other corners of the country and South America, in Cordoba there are some privileged points to observe it. In this sense, the provincial government defined a strip that includes observation points in the Traslasierra area (in La Población, Yacanto and San Javier) and in the Río Cuarto area.

In relation to the eclipse, yesterday, at the Civic Center, the president of the Tourism Agency in Córdoba, Julio Bañuelos, and the Minister of Science and Technology, Walter Robledo, affirmed that Córdoba is committed to astronomical tourism and scientific dissemination.

In addition, with the objective of achieving a safe observation, activities and actions of dissemination and training will be carried out in the different localities of the province. There will also be astrophotography courses and telescopes will be placed, among other measures.
