La Mascota, a Mendoza Winery, stood out among 3500 other brands and was the chosen one by Vinalies Internationales jury. Argentina received 9 golden medals and 18 silver medals.
Vinalies Internationales contest, where 3500 wines from more than 40 countries competed, crowned La Mascota Cabernet Suavignon 2016 as the world’s best red wine.
From Mendoza province, Mascota Vineyasrds is an independent Argentine Winery that conquered the main international markets and, in the country, it sells premium wines in its online store mascotavineyards.com.ar.
The reward is a historical event for Argentina since it’s the first time a national Cabernet wins an international distinction. Besides, Vinalies is one of the most important contests of the wine industry globally, and it takes place in France, the region historically associated to superior quality Cabernets.
"From the beginning, Mascota Vineyards sought to compete against the best wines of the world. That is why we work to give an outstanding performance with the most emblematic varietals worldly: The Cabernet, considered the red wines king; the Chardonnay the white grapevine par excellence; and Malbec the varietal by which Argentina is widely known," said Juan Parajua, Marketing Manager.
"The fact that we have obtained this reward with our Cabernet, reaffirms our path and revalues the goodness of Argentine Cabernet and the great potential that the vines from our country have," he said.
Argentina shares the Best Wine in the world podium with Germany, which obtained the Best White Wine rewards, and with France, that obtained the Best Rosé Wine. But that was not the only reward for Argentina, the country received nine gold medals and 18 silver medals, exceeding its performance in former editions and thus positioning itself as the most recognized nation of America and the South Hemisphere.
Vinalies International contest seeks to highlight the best vineyards productions of the world and to grant them the properly reward for the quality of the elaborations. Likewise, it also awards the main scores of the world ranking of wines and spirits of the prestigious World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists.
