From coast to coast: 6 beautiful Argentine beaches to fall in love with

From the Atlantic coast to the most distant in the country, some beaches that we can discover on a tour of Argentina.

December 23, 2021

Argentina as a destination is not only a good plan due to the sanitary conditions and the complications to leave the country: throughout the territory there are hundreds of incredible places, from glaciers to waterfalls, mountains and valleys, national parks and urban destinations. , mountains and rivers. And, of course, beaches, from the best known to the most remote.

Each one has its own virtues, always with the sea and its waves in sight: shell and snail paradises, the shore at the end of the world, the warm waters of a gulf, the fine sand next to the pine forests, the marine fauna.

Here, we choose some options to enjoy the Argentine sea this summer.

South Beaches of Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata is a classic on the Atlantic Coast, the most popular destination next to a huge and beautiful city. Of course we can go to Bahía Varese, squeeze into Bristol or Playa Grande, but if we are looking for something new, it is better to move away a bit towards Punta Mogotes and further south of the Lighthouse. Towards the Chapadmalal side, the beaches of southern Mar del Plata are the ones that attract more and more for their natural charm, without generating uncomfortable crowds. There are calm waters, dunes, ravines and cliffs, with abundant vegetation. In recent years it has become a much more exclusive place.

Pinamar, Cariló and surroundings

Also on the coast of Buenos Aires, Pinamar stands out as an urban center of hierarchy, with very good quality in accommodation and gastronomy. Its beaches are free in some sectors, but most have private spas; They are of fine sand and are a few meters from the pine forests. It was the first of the Party's localities, but it was expanding towards Ostende, Valeria del Mar and Cariló, with their own urban centers and attractions. In recent years, the growth has been such that it joins with towns of the Villa Gesell district such as Mar Azul or Mar de las Pampas.

Dunamar and Punta Desnudez

Dunamar is in Claromecó (photo), in the Tres Arroyos district, Buenos Aires. Its beaches are about six kilometers long, and are considered one of the widest in the country. Temperate and blue waters, shallow areas and without strong waves, are ideal to enjoy with the family. Its sunsets, the practice of sports in the dunes or on the shore, the almost non-existent agglomeration of tourists, are some of the virtues of this destination. Also between Necochea and Monte Hermoso is the Orense resort, next to a very young town and a beautiful beach for lovers of sports, walks or horseback riding.

Piedras Coloradas and Las Conchillas

Some consider Piedras Coloradas (Las Grutas) the best beach in Argentina. As in the entire San Matías Gulf, its waters have an almost unique temperature, close to 27 degrees. In addition, the sand, the shells, the cliffs that help stop the wind and its caves eroded by the sea, complete the proposal. It is not that massive. A few kilometers from there, just around the gulf, there are several practically virgin beaches in the San Antonio Este port. Las Conchillas beach is one of those with the greatest tourist potential. Tip: go early to find the most beautiful snails.

El Doradillo

For many, Puerto Madryn is synonymous with the sea ... but with whales. However, there are beaches in the immensity of the south that are worth knowing and enjoying on a trip through the country. The downtown beaches offer tranquility, sun, serene or rough sea (yes, always cold), plenty of space to rest or play in the sand. 17 kilometers away, the El Doradillo nature reserve allows you to appreciate the immensity from a terrace with a privileged view. It is ideal for long walks, snorkeling in virgin areas of the ocean, or taking a boat ride. There are no services, but there are open fires, and the beaches do not have lifeguards.

Playa del Fin del Mundo

Playa Larga, in Ushuaia, is on the shores of the Beagle Channel and is a reserve with archaeological sites of great value. Not to mention the landscape, with incredible views at the end of the world. The reserve has stoves to use only certain times of the year and with great care. The beach is used for long walks or recreational activities, and is usually very crowded in summer, by the inhabitants of the city themselves. There it is also possible to see numerous coastal birds such as gulls, southern oystercatchers, black-necked cormorants, among others. The climate is cold and humid, and the winds are very strong.
