El Hoyo, Chubut

El Hoyo is a small place that can be easily covered if you have little time, although with more days you will be able to travel the thousands of trails that it has to investigate. Without a doubt, if you are a nature lover, this place is for you.

One of the most beautiful hikes there is is the Corbata Blanca waterfall, and from the route you can see this incredible jump that leaves anyone speechless. To access this jump, you enter Route 40 to the bottom of the town towards the mountains where you will find an entrance park where you can see everything you need to climb and the different difficulties of the path according to the time of year. Once there they have to notify that they are going to start walking along the path towards White Tie. In my opinion, it is a walk for all audiences without much difficulty, which does have steep sections. It is highly recommended to go with suitable shoes, especially if it is accessed in summer because there may be a lot of dry land there. The walk lasts between 40/45 minutes at a normal pace. I advise you to go in Autumn / Spring. In summer in that area the temperatures can reach over 35 degrees, which can be a bit suffocating.

During the trail there are several typical trees of the area such as the coihue that represents much of the Argentine Patagonia. It is a beautiful path and at the end you find this waterfall almost 80 meters high. If you go in very hot season you can cool off on the spot.

Puerto Patriada is, perhaps, one of our favorite places in southern Argentina. A place that many fall in love with when visiting it. Highly recommended and unmissable if you are in the area. It is entered from El Hoyo through a path that goes through forests. We recommend going in December where you can see the gorse in its maximum splendor. Along the way there are different viewpoints, in one of them you can see in the distance the Patagonian labyrinth that we will talk about later. When you reach the end of the road you will find the campsite and Lake Epuyén. The place has grills with lake shore, Kayak rentals, SUP, among other activities. There is also a free parking lot. In summer it is usually filled with people who enjoy hot days. Ideally they can go before full summer starts, we would say that the best time would be early September.

Patagonia Labyrinth is an activity for the whole family and for all audiences. If you feel like having fun, take a tour of the Patagonia labyrinth. It is considered one of the largest mazes in South America. Inside is the living fence labyrinth that has two instances, with a phase in the middle of rest. 5 inputs and 1 single output. It's really fun to see who wins if they go with more people.

Trelew, Chubut

Trelew is located in Patagonia but it is not recognized for being a tourist attraction; It is more of a commercial and industrial city, but with some attractions that do not go unnoticed if you visit.

What caught my attention the most was the life-size replica of the largest dinosaur in the world that was found in Patagonia. It is located right at the exit of the city (when you go from south to north) and it is worth a stop to visit it.

Another of the attractions that I liked the most in the city is the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (also known as the MEF). It is one of the main sites to see in Trelew, since it is one of the most important museums in Argentina and is recognized worldwide.

Trelew has a very interesting history and one way to get to know it and learn about its ancestors (Tehuelches, Mapuches and Welsh immigrants) is by visiting the “Pueblo de Luis” Regional Museum. Here you can see pieces of Welsh and Aboriginal culture, elements of railway activity, among other things.

And last but not least, the tea houses are a must if you visit Trelew. Being a town of Welsh origin, you can enjoy tea in the tea houses of the Welsh descendants, accompanied by pastry delicacies.

Barreal, San Juan

Barreal has the best viewpoint in the province, the Mirador del Cóndor Andino.

On the side of the Río de los Patos there is a panoramic point to see the Andes Mountains, as if it were a 180 ° photo, with the Cerro Mercedario of 6720 masl as the main peak and with the Aconcagua peak that can be seen quite a lot along far. In the town you can also walk through the streets under the avenues on the Camino de los Enamorados and through the streets of the center where the houses are country-style. Everything is magnified when you find out that from this area, San Martín, undertook the crossing of the Andes towards Chile.

30 kilometers south of Barreal are the main tourist attractions. On the one hand, the Pampa del Leoncito, also known as Barreal Blanco; a plain of cracked earth that was once a lagoon. Although its main function is to be the sand yachting track, it is an excellent place for a walk with the mountain range in the background. Right in front of it is the entrance route to El Leoncito National Park, with free access and with various activities to do. Inside there are two astronomical observatories, which offer night visits to see the sky and the stars from the telescopes. There are several hikes, trails, viewpoints and waterfalls in a mountain environment that is not so common to see in the province.

Ruta del Adobe, Catamarca

The Adobe Route of Catamarca is one of the least known destinations in Argentina, and yet it is a spectacular route, through the history of the towns located in the highest areas of the province of Catamarca, beautiful by nature.

Along the Adobe Route, you pass through different towns in which houses built of adobe predominate and that seem anchored in time. From Copacabana to Fiambalá there are 65 km of road through the adobe route and its iconic towns that adapt to the cold of winter and the heat and rain of summer.
